    Start Racing at WOSC

This fun and informal monthly race series aims to give new sailors of all ages the opportunity to build their confidence and develop their sailing & boat handling skills. Throughout the race series you will receive coaching and advice from experienced members to help you improve your skills and technique.

Every four weeks or so during late spring and summer, we will meet at 9:30 on Sunday morning for a quick briefing on the race course and some basic rules. Club boats will be available for those wishing to take part. We aim to run two to four short races, with the first starting at 10:00. We should be finished around 11:00 after a short debrief. This will give participants enough time to join in the 12:00 club race, should they wish to.

We hope to see as many of you as possible, make sure you come dressed for the weather and be sure to bring your sense of humour!

From Sunday 28 April 2024 and then every four week or so until 22 September.

    1) 28 April 9:30 - 11:00

    2) 19 May 9:30 - 11:00

    3) 23 June 9:30 - 11:00

    4) 28 July 9:30 - 11:00

    5) 18 August 9:30 - 11:00

    6) 22 September 9:30 - 11:30

To qualify for the series, you will need to take part in just over half the races run. You would be expected to qualify if you sail a boat (of the same class) in all races on 4 of the 6 Sundays.
