A Club for All the Family  West Oxfordshire Sailing Club

Please register above.

Our training programmes encourage our junior members to learn to sail and then to improve their sailing skills by learning to race. We use Oppies, Toppers and Firefly dinghies which help us create an enviroment that encourages children to continue sailing into their teenage years and beyond.

New Saturday Sail Training Sessions

Things are changing at WOSC in terms of how training will be delivered. Saturday training will now include Juniors and Adults.

Participants will need to pre-register for sessions using the Events listing. This is important so we know how many instructors will be needed for each session.

In terms of the Juniors, the aim is to get children confident to take out boats and participate in racing in a relaxed and fun atmosphere.

More information is in the right hand bar 'Upcoming Events'.

Can you help?

All Junior training is run entirely by volunteers.

We are looking for coaches to help with Oppies, Toppers and Fireflies, especially during Junior Sailing Week. Please contact JP Williams if you can help: Commodore@wosc.org.uk.

WOSC Junior Sailing Week - 2018

Congratulations  young people who took part in Junior Sailing Week 2018 and massive thanks to all the volunteers who made it happen.

We had nearly 50 Juniors developing their sailing skills and had a wide range of wind and weather conditions.

Also a big thank you to the Parents who helped crew the Patrol boats and carried out maintenance around the club whilst the kids enjoyed themselves

Saturday sail trailing

Saturday afternoon sail training for juniors (and adults). Pre-booking required.

New Important Information: Registration

You will need to register for the Saturday session (see registration box on the events calendar) so we have an idea of numbers and can provide the right ratio of instructors.

If you are aged 8 - 18 then get a parent to bring you down to the sailing club for a fun filled afternoon of learning about dinghies and some sailing too!

Start time is 13:00 and runs on till 16:00 or the sun stops shining!

First date is the 11th May; see events calendar for more details.

Parents must stay at the club, but will have the opportunity to go out in a boat, so bring your sailing gear!

No sailing experience necessary. Juniors will be split into ability groups and may be rotated depending on numbers.

If you are an Adult that would like to learn to sail then we will be running introduction sailing classes to help you to begin to sail on Saturdays also. Please see the training pages.

Junior Sailing Week

Date: 5th to 9th August; Pre-booking required.

Junior sailing week is a unique opportunity at WOSC for our juniors to enjoy sailing the club boats in a structured way that introduces some juniors to sailing for the first time, others honing their skills. The really great part is that our most experienced juniors are part of the coaching team, together with a team of dedicated members who organise, help rig the boats, and provide coaching.

Registration will open on Monday 10th June, more details to follow by e-mail.

Contact: training@wosc.org.uk.
