The WOSC Regatta is an open event which will take place over two days, from Saturday 6 June to Sunday 7 June.
This is a celebration to which all club members are warmly invited. Please come and join us for racing, social sailing, swimming or simply socialising. As this is a social event, it is a great opportunity if you are new to racing.
There are three General Handicap races scheduled on each day at 12:00, 14:00 and 15:30; each race will last around an hour. There are separate prizes for each day of racing (2 to count out of 3). In order to win the Regatta Cup, you will need to sail on both days (5 to count out of 6). Club boats are available without charge to members who take part in racing.
We have organised professionally cooked pizzas on Saturday evening from 17:30; the pizzas will be sold at the subsidised price of £10 each. Please purchase your pizzas in advance to be sure not to miss out, by registering for the regatta (even if you don't intend to race). We will be selling the remaining pizza tickets from the bar on Saturday evening. You should collect your tickets from the bar before placing your pizza order with the caterers.
Also on Saturday evening, we will hold the prize-giving ceremony at 19:00 for first, second and third place in each of the race series completed in 2025; there are other prizes, for example for most improved sailors. Why not come and cheer as prizes are handed out? The bar will be open, camping is available on Saturday evening and we plan to party on Saturday evening.
Please note that there is no galley at lunch time on Saturday, so please remember to bring your own lunch. There will be galley as usual on Sunday, when the first race of the day finishes at around 13:00.
We will light the barbecue on Sunday evening, for those who want to cook their own food and enjoy a drink from the bar whilst the prizes for the regatta are handed out. The regatta is a family occasion and visitors are welcome; please sign visitors in as usual. We are hoping to see many of you at the club.
