Two day Firefly Class Open event.
The schedule for the weekend is as follows:
* Saturday: Our boat park will be open to welcome competitors for registration from 09:30 on Saturday morning. Bacon rolls, tea and coffee will be available for purchase. The warning signal for the first race will be at 11:25. We are planning to run up to 5 races of around an hour each during the day, with breaks for lunch at around 13:30 and tea and cakes at around 16:00. A fish and chips supper is planned in the evening, which you can sign up for (and pay cash towards) on Saturday morning. There will be a disco with the bar open in the evening.
* Sunday: Bacon rolls, tea and coffee will be served for breakfast. The warning signal for the first short race will be at 09:55. We are planning to run up to 5 races of under half an hour each, with the warning signal of the last race given before 12:45. Club lunch is served at 13:00 and will be available to Firefly travellers at the standard cost of £4 per person (to be paid on the day).
The entry fee of £30 per boat includes lunch and tea and cakes on Saturday. There will be separate charges for dinner on Saturday, breakfast on Saturday and Sunday, and club lunch on Sunday.
Entry to this event open to all National Firefly Class Dinghies sailed single handed or crewed. On-line registration and payment can be done in advance via the WOSC website, or payment and registration can be done on the day.
There are prizes to be won for first, second and third placed crewed boats; there will also be prizes for the first single-handed boat, first under 18 helm and first under 18 crew.
Camping will be available to competitors at no extra cost on a first come first served basis, please book in advance to guarantee your place. Visitors to WOSC planning on camping should bring a £20 note to be used as deposit for a clubhouse access card; the £20 will be refunded on return of the access card. Please let us know if you would like to camp on Friday evening, so we can organise access to the sailing club.
