Midsummer Nights Race

Team racing in the dark. Club BBQ will be available and camping for members and visitors on Saturday night.

This is a regular feature in the WOSC calendar. It involves people entering in teams to race a boat non stop from 8pm till midnight. The spirit of this event is to have fun and teams can make as many changes of crew and helm in the pitstop change-over area in front of the clubhouse. This means that there is always something to watch for spectators. So get those glow sticks /lights taped on so we can see the boat in the dark and if you feel inspired by our Australian theme last year, why not add a few other suitable decorations to represent yor team. There are prizes for the winner and also best decorated boat, most entertaining moment (I am at a family wedding this year which makes this category wide open.)

The club BBQ will be lit (weather permitting) and will be available for general use, bring your own food to cook. This year we are also asking people to bring a plate of food for a communal buffet. The idea is to lay on a communal table of food to keep competitors and spectators fed with gastonomic delights. Well the odd sausage roll. If everyone pitches in all will be fed whatever the weather. 

All members and their guests are welcome and if you don't have enough for a team just turn up ready to sail. There are always teams formed on the night and others that need extra support, just ask around and make it known you are looking to join a team.     

Race briefing at 7.30pm

Race starts 8pm till midnight.
