West Oxfordshire Sailing Club
A Club for All the Family
Racing

West Oxfordshire Sailing club has a comprehensive and keenly fought year long racing calendar covering boats from Optimists to Wayfarers, racing in general handicap, fast (PN less than1100), slow, single handed and crewed fleets.

During the spring and summer months we run 3 races a day on a Sunday and one race on a Wednesday evening. In the Winter, there are 2 races every Sunday. We have a number of one-day events for those members unable to qualify for a long series along with fun events such as an 8-Hour Race and a Midsummer night race. Juniors and Ladies compete in their own dedicated series during the summer.

Race training for beginners is provided once a month on a Saturday during the spring and summer. Those new to racing may find this guide for beginners useful.

The club owns fleets of Toppers, Wayfarers, Lasers an Enterprise and, new for 2008, a fleet of new Fireflies, all of which are available for hire by members.

We hold a number of open meetings every year for classes as diverse as British Moths and Wayfarers.

We have been home to a number of National Championships and boast several past national champions among our current membership.
